Review of Fiesta 7-3/8-Inch Square Salad Plate

I love my Fiestaware, and these new square plates are a great addition to their product line. The square salad plate is the right size for many meals. These plates stack easily, and their squared-off shape makes them easy to fit in the cabinet and dishwasher (though I'm not quite as favorable toward the new square bowls -- which do not stack and are harder to clean). I like the new shape for plates as a new twist on this line of dishes, which has been a favorite of 3 generations in my family.

Like all Fiestaware, these square plates are a prone to slight scratches from silverware, but I find that to be part of their old-fashioned-but-modern charm. I find Fiesta dishes to be very sturdy for everyday use. The colors are bright and bold, just as pictured. The colors are inspiring for everyday, but also work well for special occasions.

I definitely recommend these square plates!

These mugs hold 16 ounces if filled to the brim, rather than the advertised 18 ounces. It is irksome, because I bought a set of these to replace an old set of 18 ounce Gibson ceramic mugs that we use for everything from cereal to soup. The Fiesta mugs are well made, colorful, and easy to handle. I will keep them because the Gibson mugs don't seem to be made anymore. I would rate the mugs 5 stars, but my huband is going to gripe about the smaller size. Sigh.

Review of Pfaltzgraff Rio 3-Piece Canister Set

Pzaltzgraff always makes a fine product. The lids fit smoothly & snugly, no obvious flaws in the stoneware. I will warn you, though, that what looks like blue stripes are closer to a blue - purple: periwinkle I would call it. I was actually looking for slate blue. I like the cannisters well enough, however, so I kept them. I always like that I was able to search in the comfort of my couch, and Prime free delivery meant I did not have to lug them home.

Review of Fiesta Bango Stripe Oblong Tablecloth

I have alot of Fiestaware dishes - all different colors - and this tablecloth looks great with them.The problem is that it arrived measuring 53"x65" (supposed to be 52"x70").And, there were stitching problems: (a) the tablecloth is striped, and at the long sides it is not sewn in a straight line, so you see, say, an orange stripe at one end then it is folded under/sewn under by a foot or two away; (b) the red thread that sews the hems under was all piled up (the sewing machine must have jammed - dozens of layers of thread were stuck together) for about 2 inches at one corner.Not a big deal, but a guest would notice if sitting at that end, and it just looks like a second.I'm sure I could cut that out and re-sew it quickly, but, well, who wants to buy something and then do a project.

The 5" too short is ridiculous - I returned it for an exchange.It came in a Fiestaware package, so seemed to be first quality (not a second).Will update review when I get the replacement - hoping it is the right measurements.

I purchased a dozen of these 8 1/2" black plates for a dinner party I was having.I had my good white china dinner plates set at the table, and actually served the main course on these slightly smaller black plates,using the white china like chargers. The colors of the food really stands out against the shiny black plates.The plates met my expectations, were not too heavy to use with my good china, and washed well in the dishwasher.I'm actually thinking of buying more in a different color for my next party!

UPDATE on March 1, 2010: I wrote to the company a little over a month ago and they replied immediately, offering to replace the broken mugs. That was great, but we are still waiting for the replacements to arrive.

We liked the size, shape and appearance of this large mug, and the company's reputation, so we bought six in the cobalt and peacock colors.

But after several months of regular use, two of the cobalt mugs lost their handles. They just came away easily from the body of the mugs without being dropped or jolted. I've never had this happen to a mug before. I notice that the area where the handle connects to the body is distinctly lighter than the rest of the glaze and wonder whether this reflects some manufacturing defect.

I've had the Mikasa Antique White china collection for about 6 years and use it for everyday and special occasions as it's the only china pattern we have. It always looks good and I get plenty of compliments about my china ware. Infact, family and friends have bought Mikasa Antique White because they liked mine so much. It's microwavable, dishwasher and oven proof and says chip resistant, however, two of my dinner plates got chipped in the dishwasher. The design is easily found for replacements and there's a huge selection of items to choose from when you want to add to your set; cake stands, different sized and shaped servers as well as full coffee and tea sets, pasta sets and canape platters to name a few. We love Fiesta Ware pottery.This is a quality product made of tough clay with well matched durable glaze. Because of this and its famous assortment of sumptious colors, I will buy it every time.However, when buying this product from Macy's I found the following to be true:
1.) Items or colors listed as in stock and shipping (the pizza plate for example)get listed as backordered after you purchase and languish for months before the order is inexplicably canceled.
2.) Items that are seconds quality being sold as first quality. On average, 10% of our orders included slay slubs, glaze missing in spots and other imperfections.
3.) Range of products severely limited
4.) Color choice from available range severly limited.

So, in short, buy Fiesta Ware. A quality product, made in the United States, of charming beauty--but reconsider Macy's as your Amazon supplier.

I received a set of these shakers for Christmas.Being a big collector or Butler's Pantry, I absolutely LOVED them.They are VERY LARGE, but coordinate VERY WELL with many of the oversized Butler's Pantry serving pieces I use.I decided I wanted a second set.In order to "save money" I tried buying a set that was advertised "NEW (WITHOUT BOX) DIRECTLY FROM THE FACTORY IN ITALY" from eBay.The quality difference was UNBELIEVABLE.The shakers were OBVIOUSLY second-quality.Lenox would have NEVER allowed the shakers I purchased to be sold in Lenox packaging.The holes were three times as large as the set I received for Christmas (WAY TOO LARGE); the tops of the shakers were dimpled; the detailing was very imperfect; the shakers appeared almost pure white rather than white and cream two-tone; the bottoms of the shakers were very rough and could have easily scratched a table; and, finally, the pepper shaker was so uneven it actually ROCKED on a flat surface.The seller was angered that I was not happy with the shakers and the transaction is still not resolved.In the meantime, I ordered another set from Amazon.The shakers arrived in traditional Lenox packaging and were just a perfect as the set I received for Christmas.THE MORAL TO THE STORY?Buy from a Lenox retailer in Lenox packaging.You WON'T be disappointed!

I have a full set of dishes as well as accessory pieces from this line.
The design has an organic, hand wrought look and feel but it has
all the advantages of porcelain.I wanted white dishes that would not
scratch, for an updated, contemporary feel.This is my favorite
piece, as it is beautiful for both storing and serving berries and grapes.
It makes me happy everytime I open my cupboard or refrigerator.
My old dishes are also Portmeirion, and they have held up beautifully
