I can see why the other reviewers were disappointed as the picture and description here clearly show a pyrex insert.However, on the Wilton Armetale website, this is not there.And when I bought mine at BB&B, there was no insert either.The baker is meant to be used as is and works great!Like with a pyrex, you must of course grease the pan but that is it.I love that I can put my recipe directly into this, bake in the over, and then serve.No need to transfer to a nicer looking serving dish and dirty two items.I also like that it holds heat well and keeps the dish warm for seconds (conversely, for cold dishes it keeps them chilled when put into fridge).I have several of these pieces and love them all!Click Here to see more reviews about: Wilton Armetale Reggae Rectangular Baker
