Review of Oneida Paul Revere 3-Piece Child Set

I purchased both the Revere youth set and the Chateau youth set for my grandchildren.The Revere set has a matte finish, while the Chateau has a polished finish.

BOTH sets are VERY nice.However, my preference goes to the Revere set.

The bowl of the spoon on the Revere set is deeper than the bowl of the spoon in the Chateau set.Amazon also sells both teaspoons and place spoons individually if you want to add a larger spoon to this set--another plus for the Revere set.

The knife handle on the Revere set seems to be a better shape for small hands to grasp securely.

I prefer the shiney finish of the Chateau set and thought it to be a more feminine pattern for my granddaughters.(I really wanted to like the Chateau set best.)However, the Revere set looks like it will function better for its intended use in training small hands to use utensils--so I will be going with the Revere pattern for all of my grandchildren.

I bought 2 sets of this dinnerware to replace a Pfaltzgraff set I had. The design and colors immediately caught my eye. I wasnt sure of the brand because I had never heard of it, however I am not impressed by name brands - I have never once turned over someones plate to see the brand - WHO CARES!! I use the mugs everyday and the bowl is a great size, not like the usual bowl that you can barely fit anything into. It is very durable, they come out of the dishwasher looking the same (except clean!!!) They are not as heavy as pfaltzgraff and they are not rough on the bottom - they do not scratch the table or snag the tablecloth. Also, each piece has its own characteristics. If you are not one to impress with all "big name" pieces, then you will love the Sango dinnerware that is showy WITHOUT reading the bottom.

Review of Soft Country Scroll 16-pc. Dinnerware Set - Green

I fell in love with these dishes online and in person.They are beautiful and very classy!However, 1-2 months later I discovered the GLAZE was cracking.It started on the bowls and traveled to the small plates.The plates are literally stained with the color of food in the cracks of the glaze.Thankfully Amazon is giving me a full refund once I return them, but first that means I must find other dishes to eat off of.I won't order another set.

This Day of the Dead Melamine Mini Dinnerware set is ideal for a The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) holiday celebration, and for enjoying the favorite foods and beverages of the departed. It's astonishlingly festive in its own way, and reminds me of the type of plates my grandmother would use to serve us lunch in younger days.

The design is a bit ironic in light of the recent events in the news. And what also surprised me was that there were over 2,300 Melamine products here in the Home & Garden category.

There is an interesting Melamine topic posted on Wikipedia that explains some of the many uses and functions, along with a note that Melamine by itself is nontoxic in low doses. Haven't been able to determine so how many of these Melamine producrts were imported from China, but it's worth a moment to check on this, if you're interested in any of them.

Review of Lenox Solitaire Platinum-Banded Fine China 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

If you were lucky enough to buy this china back in the sixties, when it was introduced, then you likely enjoy your purchase.The product that Lenox sells today is vastly inferior--I speak from experience, having purchased my service for 16 within the last two years.I have received pieces directly from Lenox's so-called "first quality" showrooms, and they had pitted glaze, discoloration on the metal banding, and even black spots (called pepper marks in the trade) on a few pieces!I would expect this from one of the outlet stores, but not when ordering first quality!Trying to return flawed pieces was a hassle--they wanted me to pay the return shipping on their misrepresented pieces!
The "lifetime replacement" policy has a few key restrictions that they often neglect to inform customers of properly.You must pay shipping, and you must send them payment that is 50% of the full MSRP (which is usually grossly inflated over what you will pay in a department store such as Macy's).On top of that, if your pattern or the piece in question is discontinued, you are out of luck...and Lenox discontinues patterns at an alarmingly high rate.Solitaire has been a top seller for Lenox for many years, so it will probably be around for a while, but you never know...
Lucky for me, I have completed my set, and have never broken a dish in my life, so I probably don't have to worry about it.For those of you just starting to purchase fine china, do yourself a favor and compare the quality of Spode, Wedgwood, or Royal Copenhagen.In my experience they produce a higher quality product, and are more willing to stand behind what they sell.Best of luck!

Review of Artica 16-pc. Dinnerware Set

Our recent experience with a shower was very depressing. We ordered the dinnerware set, the three mixing bowls, the pitcher and the serving set along with a few pyrex dishes. Of all of these items, the mixing bowls, the pitcher and some of the pyrex dishes were all shattered. The packing was atrocious and had very little protection from shipment. The items that survived were protected by a blown up pillow type packing and survived the trip, however those that were broken were not protected inside theitem box and had very little paper to protect the inner box from being tousled. Will never order by the internet at Target again. Unfortunately the shower is in two days and we have to rush out to buy new things now. They deleted the items from our credit card but refused to send another one overnight and quoted 7 - 10 days for delivery.

I have owned a full set of Pfaltzgraff Grapevine dishes for over 10 years. After using them everyday for about five years, I noticed gray marks on the dishes where ever metal flatware touches them. This didn't happen when they were new and doesn't happen to the pieces that I use infrequently. Pfaltzgraff knows about the problem and even sells a cleaner to get rid of the marks but they show up the very next time you use them!

Don't buy these if you are looking to invest in a set of dishes that will look nice for years to come!

Review of Sango Concepts Square Salad Plates, Set of 4

These plates are great. I was looking for smaller dinner plates to discourage large portion sizes/overeating, and this is working out well. Apparently studies have shown that people tend to fill up a whole plate and feel full after eating all of it, so downsizing your plates will cause you to feel full and your brain to think "done eating!" after eating less food.

These are a little 'rustic' - there might be some imperfections and I thought about returning them but figured I'd probably scratch them up anyway. It's nothing like chips or anything, just bubbles in the finish and the middle bottom of the plate is not glazed but it doesn't need to be, so I don't care!

These are fine in the dishwasher/microwave. I'm going to buy some for my brother's new apartment, too, because I know that they're sturdy and aren't going to break easily unlike some of the other cheap plates out there. These are a good price compared to Fiestaware and some others that charge as much for ONE plate as what you pay to get 4 of these.

Purchased this in black for a friend who has Fiestaware in black and white and have bought myself one even though I never thought I would buy a covered butter dish.And I use it more than I ever imagined.I like the style because its clean and doesn't have the "cute" silliness of most covered butter dishes.

Review of Royal Doulton Atlanta 5-Piece Dinnerware Place Setting, Service for 1

My husband and I originally received 4 sets of this from Hudsons/Marshall Fields/ Macys for our wedding in 2004, and couldn't pass up the great deal on Amazon for about 1/3 the price our guests bought it for!We've used it at least a dozen times and always get complements on the beautiful blue color and silver key pattern on the plate (it has sliver trim around edges as well).

Anyway, although it says dishwasher safe on the back of the plate, we wash them by hand.Also, due the the silver design, we do not use them in the microwave, either.I have put the plates in the oven on warm, and they've been fine.After 3 years they still look brand new.Utensils and knives have not scratched the surface at all.

The only thing I don't like is the dinenr plate is very flat, so if you have something juicy on it (think turkey with gravy), and it is near the edge of the plate, you are most likely going to have a little mess on the tablecloth.

I would definitely recommend this product to someone looking for beautiful formal china.

I bought these dishes because I wanted a nice set of white dishes.However, these are terrible.I could not make one complete serving for eight set out of three (3) boxes!The first box had a broken plate, but I could have lived with that.But every dish had big random black specs on them, the plates had inverted dimples in the middle of them, and the clearcoat had bubbles when it wasn't just missing.Also, the logo on the bottom of the dishes was incomplete.The other two boxes did not have broken pieces, but the dishes were just as horrible!I found about 8 usable dishes in the first box, and even less in the second.Disgraceful!!

I generally like Pfaltzgraff: the quality is good and the styles classic. I did find, however, the depth on this serving bowl to be a bit shallow. Also the color of the blue stripe is not the slate blue I desired but more purply, like a periwinkle. Still, as I said I like Pfaltzgraff and did not return it.

This is beautiful, tough, well-made china. It was actually made in Great Britain, and is by no means second quality stuff. The plates are rather deep with a rim of 3/4".The painting is crisp, and the patterns are centered on every dish (This seems to be a problem for other manufacturers to judge by the reviews.)

This set has the advantage of glasses (which I needed) rather than cups or mugs more commonly offered in sets (which I didn't need.)Portmeirion has apparently improved the highball glass quality since 2006; the glass thickness is now over 1/16" thick, and tempered.Earlier reviews had complained that the glasses were like eggshells.

It comes very well packaged in four nested boxes.However, one glass (out of eight) was chipped.Rather than send the whole set back to Amazon ($$$), I called Portmeirion USA in CT, and they sent out a new glass within a week.Customer Service for Portmeirion was very nice. The set is common enough to get replacements and expansion pieces readily, too.

The hardest thing about this set is finding flatware to go with it, as I couldn't find any recommendations.I ended up pairing it with "Medina" by Villeroy & Boch.The table looks great now. I highly recommend this set.

This sethas all the quality and good looks that I expected. There is only one problem-it is BIG! The 11" plates are so tall in my dishwasher that they only fit in the center of my KitchenAid dishwasher, so I can't wash more than 4 at once, and the bowls don't slide in between the prongs, but kind of have to lean over, so that they take up extra space. I got the Rio setpartly because of the 16 oz. mugs (my husband is a serious coffee drinker!).I love the design, but the plates and bowls are really way bigger than any person with a normal-size appetite needs!

I was initially hesitant to order after reading reviews of broken pieces and sets being made in Colombia for the 45 and 20 piece sets. I recieved the set in perfect condition and is "Made in England". The color is very nice; not pretty pink or red, but a dull pink with some darker tones mixed along the margins.
The dishes are slightly heavier then regular china, but much lighter the stoneware or any other dinner set in this category.
There are few things though to make it get 4 star, not 5. When feeling the surface of the dishes, u can sometime get irregularitis - like small bubbles. The dishes are on average smaller in size compared to other dinnerware, especially the Oval platter, tea kettle. This set has bread plates and cereal bowl.
Overall I like it, and it's dishwasher safe!

The colbalt blue stripe and a simple but elegant silver pattern works very well together.The china is very white giving it a pure and clean look.The only thing I have found is that if you look at the plates very closely I can find a couple of very small pits which look like an air bubble that bust.It doesn't appear on every plate and is minor (I doubt anyone would notice), but I wonder if this is common in the industry or just with wedgwood.Overall though, very satisfied.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen! These dishes are nearly HALF the size of standard dishes. The color is not white as the picture indicates but almost pale gray. The first few dishes I opened were chipped and they were packaged very carefully (outer carton). The inner cartons looked like they had been handled/ opened prior to the outer carton being taped. Am I the only person who has noticed over the years that Target's quality and value are grossly imbalanced? I paid almost $100 for these dishes and they aren't worth $20. This may be my last Target purchase, actually these items will be returned.

Buyer beware! Beautiful to look at but you can't actually USE it! Especially if you have kids. All are chipping. And Pfaltzgraff didn't stand behind this product for us. After a few months we called to complain and ask to exchange for another style, but we were basically told, "Sorry, no exchange. Everybody knows stoneware chips, you should have selected a different material". Um, what? That wasn't on your product description. This junk chips when you put it in the dishwasher and it bumps against another plate! So after barely a year, we will be throwing out a HUGE set that we purchased during a kitchen remodel. I bought a set of the cobalt blue about three and a half years ago and they started getting scratches almost immediately within 6 months.
Then I thought I'd try these periwinkle plates and I'm pleased to say that these hold up quite a bit better after 3 years of constant use.

I bought the pink one with the intentions of buying the other colors at a later date so that I would have a set.I am so glad I only bought one. Disappointed that this bowl is listed as "Large" it was anything but. Note the dimensions when purchasing.The glass also looks dirty or dusty because of the tiny air bubbles that may or may not have been intentionally put in during the glass making process.
