Review of Day of the Dead Melamine Mini Dinnerware

This Day of the Dead Melamine Mini Dinnerware set is ideal for a The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) holiday celebration, and for enjoying the favorite foods and beverages of the departed. It's astonishlingly festive in its own way, and reminds me of the type of plates my grandmother would use to serve us lunch in younger days.

The design is a bit ironic in light of the recent events in the news. And what also surprised me was that there were over 2,300 Melamine products here in the Home & Garden category.

Among the other Melamine gems found here were:

* Melamine Spider Web Plates Set of 6

* Melamine Square Skull Salad Plates Set of 6

* Dirty Girl Melamine Tray

* Monkey Melamine 12-pc. Dinnerware Set

* Andy Warhol Banana Bowls & Spoons (set of 2)

* Finding Nemo 3 pc. Melamine Feeding Set

Among the more interesting product descrtiptions was this, where the importer noted that if James Bond played mahjong, he'd own this Black Tile Chinese Mahjong Game Set "Jet Set". It features midnight black melamine tiles and a handsome designer black case with chrome clasps and red felt covered trays. The description notes: "This set looks great with a dry martini."

And if you're "convinced that the Chinese will eat us for lunch", as one reviewer put it, check out The Coming China Wars: Where They Will Be Fought and How They Can Be Won, Revised and Expanded Edition. Maybe Peter Navarro's view of the big strategic picture might help.

There is an interesting Melamine topic posted on Wikipedia that explains some of the many uses and functions, along with a note that Melamine by itself is nontoxic in low doses. Haven't been able to determine so how many of these Melamine producrts were imported from China, but it's worth a moment to check on this, if you're interested in any of them.
