These plates are great. I was looking for smaller dinner plates to discourage large portion sizes/overeating, and this is working out well. Apparently studies have shown that people tend to fill up a whole plate and feel full after eating all of it, so downsizing your plates will cause you to feel full and your brain to think "done eating!" after eating less food. These are a little 'rustic' - there might be some imperfections and I thought about returning them but figured I'd probably scratch them up anyway. It's nothing like chips or anything, just bubbles in the finish and the middle bottom of the plate is not glazed but it doesn't need to be, so I don't care!
These are fine in the dishwasher/microwave. I'm going to buy some for my brother's new apartment, too, because I know that they're sturdy and aren't going to break easily unlike some of the other cheap plates out there. These are a good price compared to Fiestaware and some others that charge as much for ONE plate as what you pay to get 4 of these.
