I have this set and it looks gorgeous. I get compliments on it. It looks very luxurious because of the silver lining. But it doesn't have to be used on special occasions only. It is porcelain and a very good quality. I got it a couple of weeks ago. So far it hasn't chipped or scratched. Notice that you should NOT put it in a microwave or a dish washer. You can't get a better set for 8 people at this price. (I should know, I searched for weeks before ordering this one.)
